Awards Officer

  • Assist with development and implementation of CSSS Scholarship and Awards Programs.

  • Help establish rubrics and frameworks to ensure long-term success of scholarship program.

  • Support Scholarship Selection Committee in their activities, including co-chairing selection meetings.


Advocacy Coordinator

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of campaigns for a wide range of student and social issues.

  • Develop and brainstorm new ways to engage students in advocacy and inform them of their rights & responsibilities as students.

  • Help develop advocacy plans for student issues that arise throughout the year.

Graphic Designer

  • Help solidify a consistent SciSoc brand.

  • Create eye-catching graphics for various CSSS events and services.

Social Media Director

  • Guide the various social media campaigns for the VP portfolios.

  • Help to maintain a strong, consistent, accessible and professional presence on the CSSS social media platforms.

  • Implement new ways to increase social media outreach.

  • Develop promotional material using Canva.

  • Monitor DMs on our social media accounts and directing questions to the appropriate people.



  • Assist and consult on the design of a user-friendly science society website.

  • Maintain the website on a weekly basis throughout the year.

Production and Media Production Officer

  • If the COVID-19 pandemic allows, attend in-person science society events and take photographs that will be used for marketing and memories.

  • Lead the production of media projects for various portfolios.

  • Support the portfolios of Execs (like a LinkedIn headshot day)!

Social Media Analyst

  • Review social media analytics in order to optimize student engagement.

  • Monitor social media trends and brainstorming ways to integrate them into our feed.

Outreach & SciSoc Blog Coordinator

  • Spearhead outreach to students & student groups.

  • Find and highlight opportunities for SciSoc to be present in the Carleton Community.

  • Lead the production of SciSoc Blog, by reaching out to students and student groups.


Sponsorship Officer

  • Secure sponsorship opportunities and develop relationships with sponsors.

  • Contribute to the development of a CSSS Sponsorship package.

  • Help to find opportunities for the CSSS to sponsor other student groups.

Merchandise Coordinator

  • Create and Design SciSoc merchandise.

  • Collaborate with Departmental societies to support merchandising.

  • Organize the purchasing and distribution of merchandise.

Equity & Sustainability Officer

  • Define areas and ways to improve the equitability of the Science Society.

  • Help to implement sustainable and equitable practices.

  • Advise on ways to improve the sustainability of SciSoc events and services.


Policy & Bylaws Officer

  • Work with program societies to ratify them under the SciSoc.

  • Support the review of the constitution and related documents.

  • Help produce motions, and meeting materials

  • Create "SparkNotes" or one-pagers for key SciSoc documents.



  • Takes notes at all science society council meetings and prepares them to be sent for publication on the website.

  • Arranges for a replacement secretary if they are unable to attend a meeting.


Elections Officer

  • Facilitates election, and by-election processes.

  • Arranges for a replacement secretary if they are unable to attend a meeting.

  • Liaises with the VP Internal and Senate office to ensure correct information is present on ballots.

  • Liaises with nominees and candidates for various positions.

  • Monitors elections and campaigns to ensure that here are no violations of the electoral code.

Internal Finance Officer

  • Help to manage the budget for the Science Society

  • Assist in the tracking and monitoring of receipts and reimbursements.

  • Implement an audit procedures and assist in building standard operating procedures for the SciSoc.

  • Work closely with the VP Operations to implement budget tracking and organization strategies.


Science Community Fund (SCF) Director

  • Oversee selection of Representatives for SCF committee.

  • (when applicable) Chair the SCF meetings.

  • Review and consolidate applications for SCF on a rolling basis.

  • Evaluate and propose changes to the SCF.

  • Monitor the approved projects and events; refer them to Comms for branding help.

Marketing Director

  • Guide marketing initiatives and work closely with comms team to develop materials for event promotion.

  • Primary link between Programming and Comms.

  • Ensure Website contains information about upcoming events.


Special Events Director

  • Assist the VP Programming in implementing large scale events for students in Science.

  • Work with external organizations like Ollie's and Rooster's to secure event spaces and other logistical considerations.

  • Guide planning efforts for events like Trivia Night, I Love Science Day, & Science Winter Formal!


Wellness Director

  • Assist the VP Programming in implementing wellness events for students in Science.

  • Work with VPP to coordinate logistics for wellness events.

  • Lead planning and execution of events that promote wellbeing and balance for science students.

Random 101 Series Director

  • Lead planning and execution of the 30-60 minute "Random 101" workshops twice a month for the duration of the school year.

  • Work with the VP Programming to come up with a year-long schedule of workshop topics and presenters.

  • Help to coordinate logistics for the series events
